Risk Management, from a non-profit perspective, is more than protecting buildings, preventing liability lawsuits, or lowering premium costs. Thus, the main focus is not to remove risk… but to eliminate the potential of a risk occurring that would cause irreparable reputational harm, financial loss, or terminal consequences which could ultimately lead to closing your doors of service to the community.
As a consulting agency we look for gaps within your current insurance coverage, and weaknesses within your organizational structure, to differentiate between pure risks and speculative risks. Both terms have significance and it is worth a discussion. Remember: the management of risk is a key to your non-profit success.
